What Computer Vision is
Computer vision spans classification, object detection, segmentation, pose estimation, depth perception and video understanding. Multimodal language models now handle many of these tasks conversationally.
How it works
Convolutional networks and vision transformers learn hierarchical visual features from labelled or self-supervised image data. Deployment often quantises the model to run on cameras or embedded devices.
Why it matters
It is the sensing layer of physical automation — manufacturing inspection, medical imaging, retail analytics and autonomous vehicles all depend on it.
